Interpretation and Improvisation

In these designs we had to choose a object of complexity, in which I chose my grandfathers glasses and examine and determine its essential character. In the first drawing I interpret the glasses in a drawing that emphasizes line, in the second drawing I interpret the glasses in a drawing that emphasizes value, and in the third drawing I created a improvisation of the glasses. In the improvisation drawing I wanted to show what the glasses had seen, the long road traveled.

Social Justice Illustration

In this design we had to develop a illustration from
photographs showing a social justice issue in the
world today. I chose gun violence in school
because it is a problem that has been going on
for years and needs to be recognized more.
This design emphasizes line and is black in on
white paper.

Planar, Value, Space, & Light Analysis

In this project our goal was to make a still life drawing of 5 bags
with charcoal. We started out by sketching the bags, then slowly
blocked in the colors. We started adding more shading and value
and the end process was rewarding. We created a illusion of 3-D
forms in space by omitting total and unvarying contour lines around
forms, avoided uniformity of value or texture, established hard or
soft edges, allowed shapes to function as planes, and allowed
realistic shadows for all 3-D forms.
